Our Environmental History & Commitment


Since the establishment of Bells Earthmoving in 1979, and in continuing as part of Mansfield Constructions, our core business has always contained specific environmental, conservation and restoration aspects.

Within the recreational development areas our market has traditionally included ski area "slope" drainage, stabilization, enhancement and management, in "waterway" and "riverbank" river management, erosion control and bank stabilization, four wheel drive trail restoration, bridge construction and river crossing rehabilitation works, full road construction / rehabilitation works within the Thompson Dam Catchments area and sub-divisional housing development projects.

As a result of the often delicate environments that we have found ourselves operating in, our staff have learnt a great deal about impacts, accuracy, poise and safety.

To a great degree our reputation has been built where stabilisation / erosion / sediment control were core project elements. Where the reinstatement of an environment has been the primary objective and the need to work efficiently and effectively with our clients and our plant, to make sure that timelines as well as aesthetic values were met, our operators and drivers are known for being co-operative and highly skilled.

Our staff hold Forest Operators Licenses and come from diverse backgrounds including ski area slope grooming, mining and logging industries, farming and the civil construction industry.

We have on occasions assisted in the design of particular machines to assure that we can provide our clients with a versatile range of services with a minimum of plant on-site reducing project environmental impact.

Environmental Award

Exciting news regarding the Environmental works project undertaken out at our River Rock Quarries.

The Awards Night conducted by the Mansfield And District Economic Development Association saw us take out the Mansfield & Mt. Buller 2005 Business Award – Environmental section for our works at the Delatite River, River Rock Quarries site and our Plant Maintenance Program that keeps our machinery operating at its cleanest and efficient best.

It was a fantastic night and terrific to see so many of businesses represented In the various categories – this is definitely a great indicator of the increasing numbers of business operators who really put in the work to provide our region with innovative thinking and excellence in service.
